I’ve been drawn to the wind and the water since I was 10 years old. Growing up in Chile, my summers were spent windsurfing the breaks in Arica and racing Lasers and Sabots on Lago Rapel. Though my path eventually took me to Boston University for my MBA and through a 13-year corporate career with a Fortune 100 company, the sea was never far away. The very first weekend after moving to Miami in 2001, I was right back on a board in Biscayne Bay.
Today, managing family businesses and holding a US Coast Guard Captain’s License, I run Destino Charters to share the waters I know inside and out. With over 4,000 sailing hours across South Florida—plus extensive passages through the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, the Gulf of Mexico, Dry Tortugas, and offshore to Isla Mujeres—I know these waters intimately, both on the surface and beneath it.
When I’m not at the helm, you’ll likely find me behind a drum kit (the engine of the band), cycling, snorkeling, or cooking up a fresh meal for friends and family. I may look serious in sailing photos, but aboard Destino, the goal is always fun, connection, and true unwinding.
Whether you want to take the wheel and trim the sails yourself or simply kick back with a drink and watch the sunset, our time on the water is tailored entirely to you. Out here, we live by one simple motto: "Relax, nothing is under control."
